Peter J. Smith is a partner at Connell Foley LLP, LLP, where he concentrates his practice on construction issues in litigation, representing owners, contractors and engineers.

Mr. Smith has been a member of the New Jersey State Bar association since 1983. In June, 1993, he was appointed the Association's Chair of the Construction and Public Contract Law Committee. The committee became a full section in May 1994, and Mr. Smith chaired the section through June, 1995. He is also a member of the American Bar Association Public Contract Law and Litigation Sections.

Mr. Smith graduated the University of Notre Dame in 1978 and attended Rutgers University School of Law at Newark. He is a frequent lecturer at continuing legal education programs on construction law topics. Together with Mark Fleder, also a partner at Connell Foley LLP, he wrote "Representing the Contractor in Defense of Owner Claims" in Construction Litigation: Representing Contractors (Second Edition 1992) (Wiley and Sons).
